I think the best most human thing in the world is strangers doing a silly thing together

Examples:

- guy at work "Yes, and -" ing the bit me and my coworker were doing where we pretended to be owners of a fantasy medieval tavern not minimum wage retail staff

- at the gay club when Die Young by Kesha came on and two hundred people, all dancing and drinking separately, jumped up and down to make the "- beat of the drums *STOMP STOMP*" as loud as possible

- person who watched me stomp round the beach singing a made up song about breakfast foods to name a cat after and suggested more breakfast foods that would be good cat names

- guy who started a dance off with everyone across the road while waiting for the lights to change

- very tiny girl at the pharmacy interviewing everyone in the queue and every single one of us in turn sat down and answered this toddler's questions like we were on Letterman

The three pillars of humanity, in no particular order, are Joy, Absurdity, and Sharing

Pops’s Great Big Mutual Aid Masterpost

hater-of-terfs

So, this isn’t the first post ever made like this, but I’m trying to do something a little different than just posting a bunch of links. I’m only gonna include resources that are international, common, displayed either as a map or as a geographically-sorted list, and easy to participate in, to make this masterpost as accessible as I possibly can. If you’re reading this post you’re probably an English-speaker with an internet connection, and so with that in mind my goal here is that any given link you click will have a decent chance of having something near you, and there will almost certainly be at least one link on this list with something you can plug into

Groups

  • Mutual Aid Wiki - A map of mutual aid groups of all kinds, largely (but not exclusively) ones started in response to the pandemic
  • Food Not Bombs - A map of free public meals from rescued food waste. Can be a little outdated
  • Buy Nothing Project - A list of hyper-local gift economy groups
  • Trash Nothing - A list of local groups where people give and request things that would otherwise be thrown away
  • Transition Network - A map of local groups seeking to build sustainable circular economies from the ground up, for people, not profits
  • Industrial Workers of the World - One big labor union for everybody, with local chapters across much of the world

If companies are allowed to sue you for losses during a strike, there is now no longer an incentive to not simply burn down your place of work.

cryptotheism

For most people, there's really no difference between say, 15,000$ of debt, and 200,000$ of debt. They are equally life-ruining sums of money. Why not, you know, leave that gas stove on? Cost the company some real money? Maybe if it happens enough times they won't be able to buy insurance.

it’s weird if fat people don’t exist in your art

i want to say that this isn’t an attempt to guilt you into learning. i don’t want you to disingenuously draw fat bodies because i made you feel bullied, or because you want some sort of online clout. i’m tired of begging other artists to do something they obviously don’t want to do, so i’m not begging. i’m stating what i think of you and your work. no matter your skill, no matter your presence: it’s weird if fat people don’t exist in your art
